American Medical Technologists

Founded in 1939, American Medical Technologists (AMT) is a nationally and internationally recognized certification agency and membership society for the following allied health professionals: Laboratory Medical and Dental Office (MT) Medical Technologists (MLT) Medical Laboratory Technician (RPT) Phlebotomy Technician (CMLA) Medical Laboratory Assistant (MDT) Molecular Diagnostic Technologist (CLC) Certified Laboratory Consultant (RMA) Medical Assistant (CMAS) Medical Administrative Specialist (RDA) Dental Assistant Health Education (AHI) Allied Health Instructor AMT certification examinations are developed, administered, and analyzed using industry standards and state-of-the-art methodologies (The psychometrics of certification). Each examination is developed by a committee of subject-matter experts. AMT is accredited by the National Commission of Certifying Agencies (NCCA) for all its competency-based examinations. As the tests provide only one source of information regarding examinee competence, they are used in conjunction with other indicators of training and experience in the granting of certification. Once certification is granted, applicants automatically become members of AMT and have a host of member benefits at their disposal.
